POINT PLEASANT — Friday, June 12, 2015 has been declared Wahama High School Baseball Championship Day in Mason County, as proclaimed by the Mason County Commission.
During Thursday’s commission meeting, Commissioners Rick Handley, Tracy Doolittle and Miles Epling read a special proclamation honoring the championship team and presented coaches and each member of the team with certificates recognizing their achievements.
Handley, who is an alumnus of Point Pleasant High School, wore a Wahama White Falcons Baseball t-shirt to the meeting, reminding those in attendance this was a win for the people of Mason County, no matter where a Mason Countian went to high school.
Honored were seniors Demitrius Serevicz, Garrett Miller and Kristopher Clark; juniors Jared Nutter, Kaileb Sheets, Ian Hook, Mason Hicks, Ryan Thomas and Ricky Kearns; sophomores Philip Hoffman, Kaleb Gibbs, Nyles Riggs, Josh Petry and Jared Oliver; and freshmen Colton Arrington, Cass Kimes and Dalton Kearns.
Also honored, Head Coach Tom Cullen as well as his WHS coaching staff assistants Ron Bradley and Phil Hoffman. Marcia Ortiz and Gary Clark also served as statisticians for the program.
Commissioners also recognized the students and staff of WHS and the support staff and fans of WHS baseball.
The White Falcons defeated defending champions Man by a score of 7-0 for the Class A Baseball Championship.
