POINT PLEASANT —Peoples Bank and its “Season of Giving” continues with a focus on a young family.
This week’s winners are J.D. and Molly Holstein and an infant son they have been preparing for much longer than nine months.
J.D. and Molly were nominated by J.D.’s mother, Toni Holstein. According to Toni’s letter and Peoples Bank, here is why the couple was chosen to be recognized during the “Season of Giving.”
“Fifteen years ago, while a junior at Marshall University, J.D. Holstein was diagnosed with brain cancer. After a year of chemotherapy and radiation, he was proclaimed cancer free. J.D. went on to marry his girlfriend (Molly) and just celebrated their 12th anniversary.
The couple has been unable to have a child on their own and decided to try adoption. They were immediately given a match and busily prepared a nursery, went through home inspections, etc., all very costly. Two weeks before the delivery date, the mother changed her mind.
In the midst of their heartbreak, J.D. learned he had a brain tumor which, thankfully, was benign. After having surgery to remove it, the couple has been left with medical bills that insurance did not cover.
Happily, J.D. and Molly pursued another adoption and were matched with a young woman. They are looking forward to sharing their love with a little boy who was recently born.”
The couple are now the proud parents of John Damon Holstein.
All nomination letters were to be 25o words or less and received by Nov. 23 with four nominees receiving a $500 Visa prepaid gift card from Peoples Bank for Christmas.
This is the third of four profiles featuring the winners of the “Season of Giving” with one more to follow in an upcoming edition. Winners were nominated by the public for a range of reasons, including giving back to their friends, families and even strangers.
