BIDWELL, Ohio — Spirited … but a sweep nonetheless.

Visiting Meigs battled through 20 ties and 14 lead changes over the course of the match, but the Lady Marauders shook off a fired-up crowd and a noble River Valley effort on Thursday night while claiming a 25-16, 25-21, 26-24 victory in a Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division volleyball contest in Gallia County.

The Lady Marauders (3-3, 1-3 TVC Ohio) never trailed in Game 2 and were never down by more than two points throughout the course of the evening, but the host Lady Raiders (2-4, 0-4) continually fought to keep the match competitive.

RVHS — which has now dropped four straight decisions overall — built leads of 1-0, 8-7 and 9-8 in the opening set, but the Maroon and Gold ultimately broke away from an 11-all tie and never trailed again.

The opener featured eight ties and four lead changes, and MHS scored nine of the final 10 points to turn a 16-15 edge into a 9-point win and a 1-0 match edge.

After ties at one and two, Meigs secured a permanent lead in Game 2 with a 3-2 edge and eventually led by as many as 10 points at 23-13. RVHS closed the gap down to 24-21 before the guests broke serve and took a 2-0 match cushion.

There were a dozen ties and nine lead changes in the finale, and neither squad led by more than four points the entire way. The Lady Marauders did own a 21-17 advantage, but the hosts answered with a 7-2 run and took their final lead of the night at 24-23.

Meigs broke serve for a 24-all contest, then Mallory Hawley served up consecutive points to complete the minimal 2-point win for a 3-0 match decision.

Alexa Ingels led the Lady Marauders with 15 service points, followed by Andrea Mahr with 10 points and Jennifer Parker with eight points. Hawley and Maggie Musser were next with four points apiece, while E.J. Anderson added two points.

Hawley led the guests with 10 kills, while Musser and Anderson added six kills apiece. Rylee Lisle also chipped in five kills, while Mahr added four kills to go along with 20 assists and 19 digs.

Leah Roberts paced River Valley with nine service points, followed by Brooklin Clonch with seven points. Riley Bradley, Hannah Allison and Madison Hall were next with four points each, with Javan Gardner adding three points as well.

Roberts led the net attack with five kills, while Hall and Gardner respectively added four and three kills. Allison handed a team-best eight assists, while Roberts and Gardner made 11 digs apiece.
