GALLIPOLIS, Ohio — The Division IV, Region 15 opening round playoff game between second-seeded Gallia Academy (9-1) and seventh-seeded Newark Licking Valley (7-3) on Saturday night has been moved from Memorial Field to Jackson High School’s Alumni Stadium.

Memorial Field was deemed unplayable during a Monday afternoon meeting, so the Region 15 opener will instead be played in Jackson.

Gallipolis City Schools Superintendent Craig Wright released the following statement on the matter.

“The Administration and Football Coaching Staff at Gallia Academy High School have made the decision to move the first round of Playoffs from Memorial Field to The Jackson Alumni Stadium at Jackson High School. This decision is based on current field conditions and the impending weather forecast. As a district, we feel this move will ensure a neutral site with safe playing conditions for all student athletes. Thank you to Jackson’s Superintendent Phil Howard and Athletic Director Pat Stevens for accommodating us.”

Kickoff is still slated for 7 p.m.

Pre-sale tickets will be available for purchase at GAHS during regular hours, as well as at Courtside Grill from 6-8 p.m. Thursday night.

All pre-sale tickets are $8 apiece, with a portion of the money returning to the participating school. All tickets are $9 apiece at the game.
