Clay defeats Eastern in D-4 district final

The last of the Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division volleyball squads have fallen as Eastern suffered a 25-17, 25-20, 25-13 setback to top-seeded Portsmouth Clay on Saturday in a Division IV district championship match at Jackson High School. The second-seeded Lady Eagles (19-6) led in each of the three games played, but the Lady Panthers (22-3) came up with all the correct answers while knocking EHS out of the postseason for a third consecutive year. A recap of the D-4 district final between Eastern and Clay will be available in the Tuesday sports editions of the Gallipolis Daily Tribune, Point Pleasant Register and The Daily Sentinel.
