MERCERVILLE, Ohio — The Lady Eagles continue to soar.
The Eastern volleyball team earned a three games to none victory against host South Gallia on Thursday night in a Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division match in Gallia County.
In the opening contest, the Lady Eagles (12-3, 10-2 TVC Hocking) jumped to a 7-2 advantage, before outscoring the Lady Rebels (7-12, 5-8) 18-12 the rest of the way en route to a 25-14 win.
In the second game, EHS soared to an 8-0 lead. Following a timeout, the visitors utilized a 17-13 scoring run to take a 25-13 victory.
The third set heavily favored the Green and Gold, as they charged to an 18-3 advantage — before closing out the contest on a 7-4 scoring run — en route to a 25-7 win and 3-0 match victory.
Kelsey Casto led the Lady Eagles service attack with 21 points, including seven aces, while Caterina Miecchi followed with 14 service points including seven aces.
Jenna Chadwell was next with 12 points, including one ace, while Ally Barber was next with three points including one ace. Alexus Metheney concluded the Eastern service attack with two points, including one ace.
EHS finished with 46 digs, as Barber led the way with 13, while Miecchi provided 11 of Eastern’s 23 kills in the contest.
Barber and Layna Catlett paced the Lady Eagles with two blocks apiece, respectively, while Chadwell finished with one.
The South Gallia service attack was led by Rachal Colburn with six points, while Christine Griffith followed with three service points.
Katie Bowling and Faith Poling were next with two points apiece, respectively, while Alyssa Cremeens concluded the SGHS service attack with one point.
The victory for Eastern provided a season sweep of South Gallia, having earned a straight games victory in Tuppers Plains on Sept. 13.
Both squads return to Tri Valley Conference Hocking Division action on Monday, as the Lady Eagles host Wahama, while the Lady Rebels travel to face Federal Hocking.
