JACKSON, Ohio — A single solitary stroke.
That’s what separated the Gallia Academy High School girls golf squad from victory and defeat on Thursday, as the Blue Angels lost a 234-235 dual-match decision against host Vinton County at Franklin Valley Golf Course.
The Lady Vikings sported 10 players and the Blue Angels nine, as the top four scores counted towards the team total.
For the Blue Angels, medalist runner-up Bailey Meadows led the way with a 51, followed by a 56 from Molly Fitzwater, a 63 from Avery Minton, and a 65 from Lilly Rees.
Gallia Academy’s top two non-counting cards were a pair of 66s by Abby Fitzwater and Macy Jones.
Vinton County’s Kendall Fee, firing a 48 for match medalist honors, paced the Lady Vikings.
Alicia Keeney carded a 59, followed by Belle Lambert with a 61 and Olivia Caudill and Kenzie Radabaugh with a 66 apiece.
The Lady Vikings’ lowest non-counting score was a 67 by Shay Reffett.
The Blue Angels return to the road on Monday — when they join their Blue Devil counterparts at Oxbow Golf Course against Warren.
