HEMLOCK, Ohio — Now that’s how to kick off a weekend.
The Southern volleyball team claimed its second consecutive straight-game victory Thursday night, this time defeating Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division host Miller.
Southern (8-2, 4-1 TVC Hocking) scored 20 of the first 24 points in the opening game, and the Lady Tornadoes cruised to a 25-10 victory. SHS continued its roll in the second game, claiming a 25-11 win to move ahead 2-0 in the match. The Purple and Gold led 20-to-10 in the third game and held on for the 25-16 victory, sealing the match by a 3-0 final.
Southern senior Savannah Bailey led the Purple and Gold with 12 service points followed by junior Marlee Maynard with seven.
Southern will attempt to sweep the Lady Falcons on October 8, when Miller visits Racine. The Purple and Gold return to the court on Monday when they travel to Federal Hocking.
