Marauders win Meigs County tri-match at Riverside

MASON, W.Va. — The Meigs golf team earned a six-stroke victory over Eastern and Southern during a tri-match on Tuesday at Riverside Golf Course in Mason County.

The Marauders won the evening with a collective 185, while the Eagles (195) slipped past the Tornadoes (196) for second place. Meigs senior Levi Chapman scored medalist honors with his round score of 41.

Chase Whitlatch followed with a 44 for the Marauders. Wyatt Nicholson fired a 48, while Evan George shot a 52. Bryce Swatzel (60) and Theo McElroy (67) also contributed to the Maroon and Gold’s efforts.

The Eagles were led by Caleb Honaker with a 46, followed closely by Jasiah Brewer’s 47. John Little and Ty Bissell each fired a 51, while Ryan Harbour and Garrett Chalfante shot a 64 apiece for the Green and Gold.

Sophomore Jonah Hoback paced SHS with a 43. Jensen Anderson fired a 50, followed by Ryan Acree with a 51. Tanner Thorla shot a 52, while Eli Hunter finished with a 53. Jarrett Hupp’s 55 rounded out the Purple and Gold’s final tally.

The Marauders’ next match will take place at Nelsonville-York on Monday. The Eagles will next face the Rebels at South Gallia on Tuesday. The Tornadoes will take on Trimble and Federal Hocking in a tri-match on Thursday.
