Lady Lancers march past Meigs, 3-1

ROCKSPRINGS, Ohio — Not without a fight.

The Federal Hocking volleyball team claimed the first to games of the evening, Wednesday at Larry R. Morrison Gymnasium, but non-conference host Meigs was able to take the third game. However, it was the Lady Lancers who took the fourth game and secured the 3-1 victory and the season sweep of Meigs.

The Lady Marauders (0-7) grabbed an early lead in the first game, but 10 service points by sophomore Brittnie Jackson allowed the Lady Lancers to take the game by a 25-15 final. Federal Hocking never trailed in the second game and stormed to a 25-8 victory.

FHHS took an early 8-5 lead in the third game, but this time Meigs answered and took the lead at 9-8. The Lady Marauders never relinquished the lead and claimed the 25-21 win. Federal Hocking regrouped and found its rhythm in the fourth game, never trailing and allowing just one service point, en rout to a 25-8 win.

The Lady Marauders were paced by libero Jordan Roush, who posted seven service points including five aces. Devyn Oliver and Devin Humphreys both marked five points, with Oliver recording three aces and Humphreys marking two. Alliyah Pullins contributed two points and an ace, Kassidy Betzing added two points, while Morgan Lodwick finished with a point and an ace.

At the net Meigs was led by Betzing, Lodwick and Pullins with six kills each, followed by Humphreys with two kills and a block. Allie Hanstine marked one kill for the Maroon and Gold, while Oliver posted a team-best 18 assists. Roush led the Lady Marauder defense with seven digs.

Federal Hocking also defeated Meigs in straight games on August 25, in Stewart. The Lady Marauders, who visited River Valley on Thursday, will return to action in a Saturday afternoon non-conference tilt at Eastern.
