Raiders fare well at ZT meet

KINNIKINNICK, Ohio — A mixed day for the River Valley cross country teams.

The Central Crossing boys and Zane Trace girls cross country teams claimed first place in their respective events at the 2015 Zane Trace Invitational on Saturday in Ross County.

The Comets boys team posted a team total of 46 points — with three runners finishing in the top-10 — 26 points ahead of the runner-up Raiders. Host Zane Trace finished third with 95 points. Central Crossing’s C.J. Patrick led the pack of 152 after posting a time of 17:06.70.

The Silver and Black were led by a fifth place finish from Jacob Kemper (17:55.60) and a eighth place finish from Garrett Young (18:03.90).

Nathaniel Abbott (18:30.00) placed 12th for the Raiders, Chance Gillman (19:01.50) finished 22nd, and George Rickett (19:04.20) was 25th. Caleb McKnight (19:45.30) was 40th, while Ben Moody (20:26.40) finished 56th for River Valley.

The Lady Pioneers posted 55 points, followed by Westfall with 86 points. The Lady Raiders finished fifth overall with 159 points. Washington’s Alexis Gray paced the field of 104 with a time of 20:10.00.

Sophomore Kenzie Baker (21:05.50) led the Lady Raiders with a fourth place finish. Julia Nutter (24:57.70) placed 35th, followed by Leanne Hively (25:55.10) and Josie Jones (25:56.20) with 48th and 49th respectively.

Senior Hannah Nutter (26:21.20) placed 52nd, while Natosha Rankin (29:01.10) finished 85th and Sharla Moody (37:04.90) finished 104th for the Silver and Black.
