Lady Eagles win Cliffside quad

GALLIPOLIS, Ohio — A good day to visit.

The Eastern girls golf team came away with top honors Monday night during a 23-stroke victory in a non-league quad match at Cliffside Golf Course in Gallia County.

The Lady Eagles posted five of the top 11 scores overall en route to winning team total of 225. Meigs was second overall with a 248, followed by host Gallia Academy with a 248. Zane Trace had two of the top five scores individually, but still came up three players short for a team tally.

Bethany Johnson of ZTHS won medalist honors after firing a 13-over par round of 49. Teammate Lauren Ragland also shot a 55 for the Lady Pioneers.

Allie Grueser and Kylee Tolliver both paced EHS with identical 54s, followed by Kate Edwards with a 56. Kate Hawk rounded out the winning team tally with a 61, while Kate Ridenour and Sarah Bunce added respective rounds of 64 and 79 for the Lady Eagles.

Danette Davis led the Lady Marauders with a 58, followed by Kendra Robie with a 60 and Shaylin Mitchell with a 63. Sarah Curl and Mersadies Markins also posted identical efforts of 67 for MHS.

Breanna Justice led the Blue Angels with an overall runner-up effort of 53, followed by Molly Fitzwater with a 70 and Natalie Wilcoxon with a 75. Sydney Crothers wrapped up the GAHS tally with a 79.
