MERCERVILLE, Ohio — Two times in 10 days, the South Gallia Rebels rolled Federal Hocking.
That’s because the host Rebels, bolstered by outscoring the Lancers 46-25 in the second half, captured a 79-49 victory on Tuesday night — in a Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division boys basketball tilt.
The same two teams played 10 days ago — and the Rebels routed the winless Lancers 69-39 in that contest.
South Gallia gained 17-14 advantage following the opening quarter, then took the second stanza 16-10 to lead 33-24 at halftime.
But that’s when the Rebels got rolling.
They amassed 18 third-period points, as Federal Hocking only had two three-pointers and a free throw by Jared Hauk.
The Rebels then erupted for 28 fourth-canto markers, compared to 18 for Federal Hocking.
With the win and season sweep, the Rebels raised their record to 3-13 — and 2-9 in the TVC-Hocking.
The Lancers remain winless at 0-18 — and 0-12 in the league.
All of the Rebels played on Tuesday, and only one failed to reach the scoring column.
Eli Ellis, on seven total field goals and 2-of-6 free throws, led the winners with 18 points.
Caleb Henry had 17 points and Josh Henry hit for 15, as Caleb canned seven field goals — while Josh chipped in another six.
Both Henrys made three free throws.
Curtis Haner, on two baskets and 4-of-5 foul shots, added eight points.
Austin Stapleton and Bryce Nolan netted six points apiece, as Lucas Chung chalked up a fourth-quarter three-pointer.
Joey Woodall and Harley Lay in the fourth quarter, and Austin Day in the second stanza, scored a bucket apiece.
The Rebels racked up a 31-17 advantage in total field goals, as Ellis nailed two triples while Nolan notched one.
Hauk — on three threes, three twos and 8-of-13 free throws — poured in a game-high 23 points for Federal Hocking.
Walker Church, on three baskets and 2-of-4 foul shots, added eight.
The Rebels return home, and return to TVC-Hocking Division action, on Friday night against Southern.
