POINT PLEASANT — The Point Pleasant Moose Lodge recently held its monthly charity bingo game in conjunction with the Point Pleasant General Federation of Women’s Club (GFWC), Tu-Endie-Wei Women’s Club and Junior Women’s Club to raise money and collect donations for Lily’s Place.
During the event, Jennifer Chapman, director of development at Lily’s Place, spoke about the organization’s services.
“Lily’s Place provides observational, therapeutic and pharmacological care to infants suffering from prenatal drug exposure. We even use proven therapeutic handling methods and the latest weaning techniques to ease withdrawal symptoms,” the press release said.
According to the press release, almost $600 was donated from several community members, Moose members and the lodge, itself. Various Moose members also donated staple supplies to be donated to Lily’s Place including diapers, cleaning supplies and infant necessities.
During the night 17 games of bingo were played, including two prize games, with prizes donated by the hosts. A total of $1,836 in cash was raised during the night and directly presented to Lily’s Place, who also attended the event.
Quilts ‘N Things, who meet at the Moose Lodge monthly, presented two baskets of quilts, blankets and crocheted hats; a project the group took on several weeks ago, the press release stated.
The next Moose Lodge charity bingo will welcome the local Toys for Kids program on Dec. 6.
“We are doing this a week early to allow them additional time to buy gifts for Christmas,” the press release said. “Cash donations and toys (new) will also be accepted prior to the event. This organization was first started back in the ’80s by the Jaycee’s and originally accepted used toys which were repaired, cleaned up and passed on to another home. Several families too numerous to mention have continued this yearly tradition for over 40 years now.”
