Free coloring contest offered

POINT PLEASANT — Traditional coloring contests have returned to downtown with Babies ‘N Beyond Children’s Consignment store offering prizes to winners and a place in the store’s front window.

Owner Delyssa Edwards stated she had the idea when revisiting a childhood memory.

“When I was a little girl and lived in North Carolina, the local toy store always had monthly coloring contests and I was obsessed, still am, with coloring,” she said. “They gave new sets of crayons and coloring pencils and other art supplies as prizes. And the best part, they displayed all the winning art pieces in their big front window. You would drive by to find out who won.”

Edwards said she did win once and remembers the crayon set she was given as a prize and a place in the front window.

Now, as a business owner, she is hoping to return that to local children.

Starting next week and through the entire month of March, children can stop in the store and pick up a coloring sheet. There will be four designs to pick from, depending on a child’s age.

Age divisions are K-2, 3-6, 7-12 and adult.

Deadline for the store to receive the coloring sheets is April 3. Prizes will be offered for winners and their art work will be displayed in the store window.

The store is located on Fourth Street in Point Pleasant. Find them on Facebook for more information. This is a free contest. There is no charge to participate.
