MASON COUNTY — Local organizations are taking orders for wreaths for the next Christmas season for Wreaths Across America.

Lorrie Wright, the Mason County Extension agent, announced the national Wreaths Across America organization is currently sponsoring a “buy one, get one” deal. For every wreath purchases, at $15, the national organization will donate one free wreath.

“I would love to see all veterans who are buried in Mason County be honored with a wreath next year at Christmas,” Wright said.

Orders can be placed at the Mason County Extension Office by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12, or by contacting a Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) member. The DAR and Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) organizations head up the project for Mason County. Wright said the Teen Community Leaders and 4-H members participate by helping place the wreaths on graves each year.

Wright said the 4-H groups typically sell wreaths in the fall, but the national organization of Wreaths Across America has the current promotion as an incentive to order.

Wright said the wreaths ordered now will be placed on wreaths in Mason County on Dec. 18.

Wreaths Across America honors veterans and their families by placing wreaths on graves during the holiday time each year.
