POINT PLEASANT — Fireworks return to downtown Point Pleasant on July 4 during the Point Pleasant Sternwheel Regatta.
Over the years, due to a set schedule of when the regatta traditionally took place as well as keeping in sync with the schedule of vendors who attend the event, fireworks typically haven’t fallen on the fourth in Point Pleasant. This year, that changes and the regatta takes place July 2-4, which means fireworks will light up the sky on Independence Day in Point Pleasant. The regatta is known for its fireworks display which this year starts at 10 p.m., Saturday, July 4 at Tu-Endie-Wei State Park.
As it always does, the City of Point Pleasant purchased the fireworks for this year’s regatta for $8,000 from Dominion Fireworks company.
Prior to the fireworks on Saturday, July 4, country singer Joey Hyde will perform a free show at 8:30 p.m. at Riverfront Park. Hyde co-wrote the Swon Brother’s hit song, “Later On,” and previously released the single “Get It On.”
On Friday, July 3, Chase Bryant performs a free regatta concert at 9 p.m. at Riverfront Park. Bryant’s first single, “Take It On Back” was a top 10 hit and his second single, “Little Bit of You” was recently released. He’s currently performing on Tim McGraw’s Shotgun Rider Tour.
WBYG’s annual country showdown also returns at 6 p.m., July 4 at Riverfront Park.
