POINT PLEASANT — Mason County locals have joined together to help a fellow member of the community during his time of need.
A benefit will be held for Kevin Nott, of the WBYG Radio Station and voice for the Point Pleasant Big Blacks football, this Saturday, 11:30 a.m. at the Point Pleasant Junior /Senior High School Commons Area prior to the PPJ/SHS playoff game. Kenny Grady, one of the event organizers, shared there will be cookies and hot chocolate served as well as a silent auction taking place. Several items have already been donated by members of the community, but donations can still be dropped off at the radio station anytime before Saturday.
Monetary and check donations will also be accepted at the event and donations can be mailed to Gayla Walker Hammack at 2448 Jerricho Rd., Point Pleasant 25550. Checks must be made out to “Benefit Fund for Kevin Nott.”
Grady, along with fellow event organizers Jeremy Bryant, from the Point Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department, and Kristen Leport have put together this benefit because Nott had recently undergone a serious surgery at Ohio State University Hospital, facing many complications and has a long road of recovery ahead of him. Nott has been in the hospital for three weeks now and his wife Nicole has stayed by his side through it all.
“Kevin would give his shirt off his back for everyone,” said Grady, “he’s a really good person and does a lot for Mason County…it is time for somebody to do something for him.”
Several members of the community have come together to help with this event and it has been “amazing” commented Grady.
For those interested in volunteering their time to help on Saturday, they can either contact one of the event organizers or show up at 11 a.m. at the PPJ/SHS Commons Area.
“We may be a small community, but we all have big hearts,” said Grady.
