NEW HAVEN — Mason County students were dismissed early Thursday for Christmas break, but not before many presented holiday events for parents and friends this week.
Among them were the New Haven Elementary Chorus members, who not only presented a holiday concert Tuesday evening, but also the play “How to Train Your Reindeer (to Fly).” Both the chorus and play cast were directed by Kimberly Bond.
The chorus presented five musical selections, including “Hark, Hear the Bells,” which featured eight students on bells. They were Lillian Bowles, Mary Claire Brinker, Katie Cullen, Carson Gibbs, Raegan Johnson, Anna Bella Mankin, Kate Reynolds and Phoebe Richardson. Other songs included “Snow,” “Christmas Night,” “Red Bird,” and “O Come All Ye Faithful,” which featured sign language by Cadence Gerlach and Katelyn Darst.
The 65-member chorus is made up of fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students.
“How to Train Your Reindeer (to Fly)” was an inspiring tale revealing that it is the kindness in a reindeer’s heart that makes it possible for him to fly.
Cast members were Kate Reynolds, Makayla Woolard, Emma Northup, Phoebe Richardson, Nick Williams, Linzie Cundiff, Zaylee Wood, Alijah Hicks, Anna Bella Mankin, Mylie Young, Katelyn Darst, Carson Gibbs, Lillian Bowles, Mary Claire Brinker, Chloe King, Logan Neal, Raegan Johnson, Makayla Horn, Olivia Jeffers, Brinna Roush, Alicia McClanahan, and Lindsey Short.
Students throughout the county will return to school on Jan. 2.
