Point Pleasant Police Department
On Wednesday, Nov. 15, officers with the Point Pleasant Police Department arrested Galen R. McGuire, 58, Point Pleasant. McGuire was charged with sexual abuse of the first degree after a complaint was filed and then investigated. The complaint reportedly involved a juvenile, according to the PPPD. McGuire was transported to the Western Regional Jail and was later arraigned in Mason County Magistrate Court where his bond was set at $75,000. McGuire remained incarcerated at the Western Regional Jail as of Thursday evening. Patrolman Matt McCormick is the arresting officer.
Mason County Special Investigation Unit
Bond has been set for a Gallipolis, Ohio man charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
Rufus A. Wright, III, 27, appeared in Mason County Magistrate Court for arraignment with his bond set at $50,000, cash only. As previously reported, on Tuesday, members of the Mason County Special Investigation Unit (SIU) arrested Wright. According to a press release from the SIU, a traffic stop was conducted on Route 2 in Mason County in the Gallipolis Ferry area. As a result of the traffic stop, eight grams of alleged crystal meth were found, along with a set of scales. Assisting in this investigation are the West Virginia State Police and Mason County Sheriff’s Deputy Justin Veith and K-9 Jerry. The SIU consists of personnel from the Mason County Sheriff’s Department and Point Pleasant Police Department. This is the fourth arrest in a month made as a result of investigations by the SIU.
