West Columbia man facing drug charge
A West Columbia man was arrested on a felony drug charge in Mason Monday evening.
Joseph Olusegun Isama, 20, of Hanging Rock Road, was charged with possession with the intent to deliver, according to Mason Police Chief Rich Gilkey.
Gilkey said based upon information of alleged drug activity, he, along with Mason Officer Jon Peterson and Officer Sierra Carmichael, and Hartford Police Chief Sam Anderson, went to 58 Midway Street in Mason. After gaining consent to enter from the homeowner, the officers allegedly found six bags of what field-tested to be alleged marijuana, a set of digital scales, and over $900 cash in various denominations in Isama’s possession, Gilkey said.
He was taken to the Western Regional Jail by Carmichael, who was the arresting officer.
According to the Mason County Magistrates Office, Magistrate Gail Roush was awaiting word from the regional jail Tuesday afternoon on a time for Isama to appear before her, and bond to be set.
Earlier Monday evening, the officers followed another tip that led them to cite another West Columbia man in a trailer park in Hartford. The man was cited by Chief Anderson for possession and was scheduled to appear in municipal court.
Chief Gilkey said all tips received by community members are acted upon. He added the officers of Mason, Hartford and New Haven consistently work together in an attempt to keep drugs out of the Bend Area.
