Mothman Pageants set and seeking contestants

POINT PLEASANT — The deadline to enter this year’s Mothman Festival Pageant is fast approaching. This year marks the 10th annual event, and pageant director Delyssa Edwards, is hoping for a great turnout.

“We have been the largest pageant in the state in year’s past, and I hope our numbers are high again this year,” Edwards said. “We have wonderful sponsors and donors who are making sure this year’s prize packages are the best yet.”

Age divisions are as follows: Tiny Miss (2-4); Little Miss (5-6); Little Mister (6-10); Young Miss (7-9); Junior Miss (10-12); Teen Miss (13-15); Miss (16-21); Ms. (22 and up, single); and Mrs. (18 and up, married). The pageant is open to anyone, from any state. Entry fee for 12 and under is $40, and for 13 and up, entry fee is $60.

The pageant will be held on Saturday, Sept. 9 at the Trinity Christian Community Center. Admission to watch the pageant is $5 adults and $3 children. The Jr. Royalty (12 and under) will compete at 1 p.m., followed by the Queen’s Royalty Pageant at 7 p.m.

The royalty chosen will reign over this year’s Mothman Festival, set for September 16 and 17. The Pretty Baby Contest for girls and boys, ages 0-23 months, will also take place on September 16. Registration is at 10 a.m. at Tu-Endie-Wei State Park. Contest begins at 11 a.m. Registration fee for Pretty Baby is $15 for one entry, or $25 for two entries.
