NEW HAVEN — A “meet and greet” reception has been set for New Haven resident and reigning Miss West Virginia USA 2017 Lauren Roush.
The event will be held Saturday at the New Haven Community Center beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Roush will briefly speak at the opening of the reception, with the remainder of the evening, until approximately 8 p.m., being open house style with residents able to come and go as they wish. There will be an area set up for photographs to be taken with Roush, as well as an autograph session. Cake and drinks will be served.
Roush was crowned Miss West Virginia USA 2017 on Oct. 16, 2016 in Morgantown. She later went on to compete for the national title in Las Vegas in May of this year.
As the reigning Miss West Virginia USA, Roush has participated in many activities across the state and United States. Locally, she has appeared in parades and other events, as well as presented her original program, “To My Younger Self,” to school children in Mason County.
Roush is the daughter of Jamie and Becky Roush of New Haven, and has a host of additional relatives in the county. She has completed her bachelor’s degree work in English at West Virginia University. Roush is enrolled in a five-year program and will graduate next year with a master’s degree in education.
