POINT PLEASANT – At the end of next month, six new titleholders will be crowned to reign over the 2017 Point Pleasant Sternwheel Regatta. Pageant director Delyssa Edwards is hoping this year more contestants sign up to compete.
On Thursday, June 29, the competition for Teen and Miss will be held at 7 pm. Contestants interested must sign up by the deadline of Thursday, June 22. There is a mandatory practice on Saturday, June 24. Contestants for Teen must be between the ages of 13 and 15, and reside in Mason County. For Miss, the division is for 16-21 year olds and is open statewide. Entry fees are $50 for Teen, and $100 for Miss. The pageant takes place at the Riverfront Park. All contestants this night will compete in Personal Interview, Promotional, Evening Gown, and On-Stage Question.
Then on Friday, June 30, the Jr. Royalty will be held at 5 pm at the Riverfront Park. Contestants can pre-register by the deadline of June 22, or sign up day of. Sign up time is from 3-4 pm at the Riverfront Park entrance. Age divisions are as follows: River Princess (10-12); Miss Maritime (6-9); Little Miss Showboat (5); and Little Mister Showboat (5). All contestants must be residents of Mason County. Contestants ages 6-12 will compete in Party Wear and On-Stage Interview. Contestants for the Showboat titles will compete in Nautical Wear and On-Stage Interview. Entry fee to compete is $25 for River Princess and Miss Maritime; $15 for Little Miss/Mister Showboat.
The Pretty Baby Contest will also be held the same evening, Friday, June 30, on the Riverfront Park stage. Registration is $15 and sign ups are from 3-4 pm. Residents must be from Mason County. Age groups are as follows: 0-6 months, 7-12 months, 13-18 months, 19-24 months, 3 years old, and 4 years old. Babies need to be dressed in Nautical Wear – red, white, blue; stripes; stars; anchors; etc. Bathing suits are also permitted. Contestants can pre-register by the deadline of June 22, or sign up day of.
