POINT PLEASANT — Students in the music programs at Point Pleasant High School are preparing for the third annual Dinner Theater. The evening will feature over 200 students from band and choir performing a variety of songs, following a meal each night, the event will be hosted at Point Pleasant High School.
Patrons will have three opportunities to catch the show; Friday, Saturday, and Sunday April 7-9. On Friday and Saturday the meal will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the show at 7 p.m. On Sunday, dinner will start at 12:30 p.m., and the show beginning at 2 p.m.
Tickets are available by contacting the school at 304-675-1350, or by contacting one of the participating students. Costs for both dinner and a show is $12 a ticket, $7 for the show only. Some meal tickets will be available at the door on a first come, first serve basis. Seating preference will be given to those who purchase tickets for dinner, with doors opening about 6:45 p.m. for all other attendees.
The theme for the show this year is “Idols.” Students will be performing a number of song and dance routines from pop culture from as far back as The Beatles, and as current as Katy Perry. Many of the songs performed will be familiar to patrons of all ages.
The show is intended as a fundraiser for the music program, which has seen much success in recent years. According to Crystal Hendricks, choir director at PPHS.
“The Dinner Theater helps grow the program because they perform for the student body and other kids see how much fun they are having, and they want to be a part of that,” she said. “Because the band and choir program work closely together, both programs are growing to great numbers.”
