Tractor trailer rollover
The Mason County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an accident involving a tractor trailer on U.S. 35 Sunday night. Also responding to the scene, personnel with the Point Pleasant Fire Department. PPFD Chief Jeremy Bryant said the accident appeared to happen around Nine Mile Road on U.S. 35 and when arriving on scene, firefighters found a tractor trailer on its side. The trailer was hauling bird seed and firefighters and other emergency crews were on the scene until around 8:15 a.m. Monday morning, nearly 12 hours after the accident happened, when all lanes of traffic were finally clear. The sheriff’s department was still processing the accident report as of press time and no further information was available.
House fire reported
The Point Pleasant Fire Department responded to a house fire at 2210 Jefferson Blvd., also on Sunday night. Chief Bryant said it appears the fire started in the basement and the cause is still under investigation. Bryant added the fire was contained to the basement and the home is the residence of Malynda Moody. Bryant added, due to firefighters being called out to the tractor trailer rollover on U.S. 35 at the same time as the fire, the Gallipolis Fire Department was called in to assist the PPFD on this call.
