MASON COUNTY — Participants at both the Gene Salem Senior Center in Point Pleasant and the Mason Senior Center will be treated to special holiday activities during the month of December.
The Jackson County Senior Choir will perform its Christmas program in Mason on Dec. 6 and at the Gene Salem center on Dec. 13. Both will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Senior citizens in Point Pleasant will have bingo with Christmas cookies and punch on Dec. 19 at 10 a.m. “Crafts with Christy” on Dec. 20 at 10:30 a.m. will find the seniors creating beautiful holiday bows. The Mason seniors will also celebrate the season on Dec. 19 at 10:30 a.m. with Christmas cake and punch.
Other events and speakers scheduled for the month in Point Pleasant include:
Dec. 6, 10:30 a.m., Medi-Home Health wellness checks;
Dec. 12, 11:30 a.m., “Medigap Insurance” by Ann Dalton;
Dec. 16, 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Brooke Fletcher of the West Virginia Attorney General’s Office;
Dec. 21, 12 to 2 p.m., Veterans Administration representative; and,
Dec. 27, “Safe Banking for Seniors Part 3” by Hope Roush of Ohio Valley Bank.
Regular activities include bingo on Mondays and Fridays, Senior Center Country Band on Wednesdays, and church service on Thursdays. All begin at 10 a.m.
In Mason, the Healthy Steps Exercise Class will be held on Dec. 7, 14, and 21 at 10:30 a.m. The Arbors will conduct wellness checks on Dec. 5 at 10:30 a.m., and Ann Dalton will present “Medigap Insurance” at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 14.
Regular activities include bingo on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and music on Fridays, all at 10 a.m.
Both centers will be closed on Dec. 23 and 30 for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
Renae Riffle, executive director of the Mason County Action Group, Inc. noted anyone in the Point Pleasant area wanting to attend events at the Gene Salem center, but not having transportation, can call 304-675-2369 to be picked up in the senior van.
