RAVENSWOOD — The West Virginia Liberty Caucus recently selected Delegate Michael Ihle R-13th, as West Virginia’s Outstanding Statesman of the Year.
Delegate Pat McGeehan (R-1st), who is also the chairman of the West Virginia Liberty Caucus, stated: “Michael Ihle is a man of his word. He has demonstrated time and time again the four cardinal virtues of courage, wisdom, temperance, and justice. He never gives in to political pressure from party bosses. Ihle always does his best to find common ground, based in principle, with those around him.”
The Outstanding Statesman of the Year award goes to “a legislator who shows the utmost adherence to principle over political party and the dedication to carry those convictions forward, regardless of cost,” according to a press release from McGeehan. Ihle was selected by civic leaders with the liberty caucus for the recognition and he was also joined by a bipartisan group of political leaders from around the state when he was named as the recipient for that recognition, according to the release.
“No matter the odds, Michael Ihle has faithfully kept and upheld his sacred oath of office—to support and defend the Constitution, including the entire Bill of Rights. He’s the most honorable person I’ve had the pleasure of serving with,” McGeehan said.
