POINT PLEASANT — Three popular, local pageants in Mason County are currently taking applications for contestants.
First up, Battle Days Pageant applications are due on Monday, Aug. 17. Applications are available at Peoples Bank North Branch next to Subway for Little Mr. and Miss ages 5-8, Junior Miss ages 9-12, Young Miss ages 13-15, and Miss ages 16-21.
The pageant is the main fundraiser for the Mason County Toys for Kids Association which purchases toys for needy children in Mason County at Christmas. For more information call Director Brandy Barkey Sweeney 304-593-6055.
The actual Battle Days Festival is Oct. 2-4 with royalty participating in the annual parade as well as showcasing and supporting festival events.
Next up, the Country Fall Festival Pageant will be held Saturday, Aug. 29 at the West Virginia State Farm Museum.
Applications are currently being accepted. Pageant is open to area girls and women, ages 2 – married. Contestants ages 2-12 will compete in Down on the Farm Wear, and those 10 and up will have an On-Stage Question. For contestants 13 and up, competition consists of personal interview, Down on the Farm Wear, evening gown, and on-stage question.
A Queen will be crowned in each age group and there are many prizes to be won. Other titles given at the pageant will be Country Hope Princess and Queen (community service award), and Country Star Princess and Queen (crowd favorite award).
Registration is taking place now until day of pageant. If a contestant pre-registers, entry fee is $50. Day of sign ups are $60. The Mothman Festival, which takes place Sept. 19-20, will host its own series of pageants and it’s one of the largest festival pageants in the state of West Virginia.
Currently, the pageant is needing contestants for all age groups. They are as follows: Tiny Miss (2-4); Little Miss (5-6); Little Mister (6-10); Young Miss (7-9); Junior Miss (10-12); Teen Miss (13-15); Miss (16-21); Ms (22 and up, single); and Mrs. (married women).
The Queen’s Pageant will actually take place Friday night, Sept. 18 at the Point Pleasant Riverfront Park. This is for Teen Miss, Miss, Ms. and Mrs.
Contestants for the children’s pageant need to be between the ages of 2-12. For Little Mister, boys should be from ages 6-10. This pageant takes place on Saturday, Sept. 19th at the Point Pleasant Riverfront Park.
