Quilts ‘N Things news

In September, the Quilts ‘N Things quilt guild gave one of their members a send-off pot luck luncheon at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Fellowship Hall.

Kay Rutherford was moving to South Carolina and will be greatly missed by the guild members. They would look forward to the beautiful masterpieces that Rutherford showed every month.

The block of the month pattern for October was “checkerboard square.” Re-organization was handled at the September meeting. All officers will remain in their various positions for 2019 except secretary which will be taken by Jackie Mollett. Liz Rickard instructed members on making a purse from a quilted placemat.

The October meeting was held at the Courthouse Annex auditorium. The block of the month pattern for November was “flying ‘round.” For the lesson, Rhonda Mullins instructed members on how to make a bowl cozie.

In November, the guild again met at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Fellowship Hall. The block of the month patterns were given out for December and they were “boxed star” and “Christmas cactus.”

Many members of the quilt guild were winners of the Peoples’ Choice Awards presented at the annual “Harvest of Quilts” quilt show sponsored by the Mason County Community Educational Outreach Service (CEOS) in October at the Fall Festival at the West Virginia State Farm Museum.

Plans were discussed for the presentation of Quilts of Valor to local veterans..

The meeting ended with a Thanksgiving feast prepared by members of the guild.

Each month a wide variety of beautiful items were shown by members.

Attending all three meetings: Edda Fields, Rhonda Mullins, Marie Dulaney, Frankie Bumgarner, Catherine Yauger, Liz Rickard, Mollie Yauger, Irene Goff, and Daleanna Langford. Attending only the September meeting were Jane Coles , Jackie Mollette, Betty Rickard and Kay Rutherford.

Jamie Knapp, Connie Curnutt, and Carolyn Litchfield attended the October meeting. Karin Thomas attended the October and November meeting . Lucy Cullen attended the September and November meeting. . Connie Huston attended the November meeting. Abby Huston was a guest at the November meeting.
