The Mason County Democratic Women’s Organization met at the Point Pleasant library on Nov. 5.
Members present were: Mercedes Sayre; Susie Litchfield, Jess Caruthers, Doma Hern, Teresa Warner, Shirley Livingston, Rhonda Tennant, Bonnie Fruth, Katie Wilson and guest Lora Dyer.
Meeting was brought to order by President Susie Litchfield with Doma Hern leading the group in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Lord’s Prayer. The October meeting was held at the Mason Fire Department, Mason, with state democratic chair Belinda Biafore in attendance along with WVFDW President Susan Hubbard and her husband, Fritz.
Several friends from Jackson County were in attendance along with local office holders, Diane Cromley, Bill Withers, Ron Hickman and potential 2016 candidates Bryan Cromley and Ray Varian.
Mason County Democratic Women officers for 2016-17 were discussed and final selections will be made within the next month.
Potential democrats running for office in the 2016 election were discussed.
Mason County Democratic Christmas Party will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic church annex, 2222 Jackson Ave., Point Pleasant, West Virginia on Dec. 5 beginning at 6 p.m. All Mason County democrats are invited to attend. This will be a covered dish dinner with turkey, ham, rolls and drinks furnished by the democratic women. Bingo will be played and door prizes will be given away.
Membership drive for 2016 is presently in progress. Dues will be collected at the Christmas dinner for the convenience of members.
Our next scheduled meeting will be January 7, 2016 at the Point Pleasant Library at 7:30 pm.
