Home ownership and home repair help

Apply for the 502 and 504 federal programs

GALLIPOLIS, Ohio — On Wednesday, Nov. 8 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Julia Woods, area specialist with the USDA Rural Development, will be available at Bossard Library for one-on-one consultations regarding home ownership opportunities and home repair loans and grants offered by the federal government.

These opportunities are available through the 502 and 504 programs from the federal government.

The 502 Home Ownership Loan program helps low-income and modest-income individuals and families who cannot obtain financing from other sources to purchase decent, safe, and sanitary housing. Loans are provided at favorable rates and terms with no down payment required.

The 504 Home Repair program provides loans to very-low income and low-income homeowners in order to repair, improve or modernize their homes. It also provides grants to elderly low-income homeowners to remove health and safety hazards.

Eligibility requirements must be met to qualify for either program.

Meet with Julia to find out if you are qualified and let the USDA Ohio Rural Development help you purchase your own home or make repairs on the home you already own.

Need immediate info? Contact Ms. Woods at 740.373.7113 x 3295 or julia.wood@oh.usda.gov.
