Berry picken time…by birds and folks. If you are fortunate enough to have berries left when the birds are finished, and you like plenty of sugar, here is a jam recipe fit for a king – Patrecia Gray
Blackberry Jam
5 c. berries
7 c. sugar
1 box Sure Jell
1 tsp. butter
Press berries through sieve to remove most of the seeds. Measure berries in 6 qt. heavy kettle, add butter and Sure Jell. Bring to boiling over high heat stirring constantly. Pour in sugar all at once. Continue stirring until it returns to a boil that cannot be stirred down. Boil for one minute, remove from heat. Pour into hot scalded jars to within ½ inch of top and seal with lid. Turn jam upside down for 5 minutes. Turn upright and let jars set for 24 hours without moving. Check for good seal and store in cool dry place
