This Saturday, the Tu Endie Wei Garden Club is sponsoring a Baking Contest and Tasting Reception in downtown Point Pleasant. The purpose of this fundraiser is to provide money for the flowers the club plants each year in the city of Point Pleasant.
Members are asking area residents to bake their best dessert including cake, pie, cookies, brownies, squares, from “scratch” using no box mixes, and bring them to the tent on Fourth Street for judging by noon. Prizes will be awarded. Starting at 1 p.m., the Garden Club will sell tickets in the amount of 50 cents each which will be used to purchase a taste of the various submissions. Depending upon the size and type of dessert one or more tickets will be charged for each “taste.” Nothing will cost more than six tickets, or $3.
Anyone interested in baking an item is asked to contact any garden club member or especially the following: Molly Park at [email protected], or (304) 675-5027, Jane Coles at (304) 675-2719, or Joyce Lee at (304-675-5027. An entry fee of $5 is requested for each baked good. It is strongly urged that all interested bakers register or make their intentions known so that sufficient space can be arranged. Entry forms are available at the Library, Tourism Center, City Hall, Farmers Bank, Peoples Bank, Four Seasons Floral, and Park who will email upon request.
The Garden Club provides flowers and plantings at Gunn Park, Mason County Library, Sixth Street Memorial to the collapse of the original Silver Bridge, Mount Vernon Mini garden, and the flowers in the hanging baskets in the downtown of Point Pleasant.
