He was born Aug. 5, 1927 in Mason County, a son of the late William E. Riffle, Sr. and Mable Norma Bennett.
Bill was a proud United States Army Veteran, serving during World War II. He worked as a cold roller crane operator for Kayser Aluminum of Ravenswood for 30 years until his retirement. He also was a repairman on mowers and cars, and repaired and resold shoes for the employees of the Kayser plant. Bill additionally was a member of the American Legion Post #23 of Point Pleasant, the United Steelworkers Union Local #5668 of Ravenswood, Circle C. Cowboys, former mail carrier, and a member of the Hickory Chapel Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie Lou Riffle; son, Frank William Riffle; and a grandson, Paul Mattox.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Rick Mattox of Point Pleasant, and Valarie and Ronny Vanscoy of Point Pleasant; grandchildren, William Jr. and Karen Mattox, Mitzi Joe and Ryan Ilagan, Newton Mattox, Tequella and Jason Stanley, Autumn Vanscoy, and Frank Riffle II; and great grandchildren, Karissa Mattox, Britlyn Wandling, Brianna Hamm, Jackson Hamm, Shelby Stanley, Ethan Stanley, and Chloe Stanley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be given to Arbors of Gallipolis, Life Enrichment Dept., c/o Mary Stuttler, 170 Pine Crest Dr., Gallipolis, Ohio, 45614. The family expressed their appreciation to the care given by the entire staff at Arbors and the residents over the past seven years. You will never be forgotten.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Monday, Oct. 4, at the Deal Funeral Home with Dr. Kevin Schumacher officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Hills Cemetery in Flatrock with full military graveside rites being conducted by the American Legion Post #23 Point Pleasant and Army Honor Guard of Charleston. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
