LETART — This past weekend was certainly busy for deputies with the Mason County Sheriff’s Department as a large amount of marijuana along with marijuana plants was found at a Letart home.

On Friday, Sept. 24, Cpl. W.H. Gritt and Deputy Powell discovered several pounds of newly harvested marijuana as well as two large marijuana plants at a home, located on Letart Road. Based on recent tips, the deputies went to search the home Friday evening.

Upon finding the marijuana, Robert Eugene Hayes III was arrested for possession with intent to deliver — manufacture marijuana. Sgt. Greene, Cpl. Varian, Deputy Glen and West Virginia State Police Trooper Finnicum assisted in the arrest. Also on Friday evening while on a traffic stop, the sheriff’s department K-9 unit, Kobie, found 14 grams of marijuana in the vehicle of Kyle M. Wolfe of Gallipolis, Ohio. Wolfe was then charged with possession of a controlled substance as well as several traffic violations.

Sheriff David Anthony encouraged residents who have information regarding illegal drugs in the area, to contact the sheriff’s department at 304-675-3838.
