The Mothman Festival Royalty crowned from Friday’s pageant is pictured with the winners from the children’s pageant. Of those contestants, it was Brittany Sayre, the daughter of Scott and Susan Sayre of Bidwell, Ohio, who was crowned the 2010 Miss Mothman Festival Queen.
“When I won, the first thing that went through my head was ‘Did she really just say my name?’”, Sayre said about hearing her name announced as the 2010 queen. “I was in total disbelief and excited beyond words. I couldn’t believe I had won at my very first pageant ever.”
Sayre emerged from 12 other Miss contestants to take the queen’s crown. Sayre also won the award for Best On-Stage Interview. She is 18 years old. Meghann Hesson, the 2009 Miss Mothman Festival Queen, crowned Sayre.
“I am looking forward to representing the Mothman Festival and Point Pleasant,” Sayre stated.
The 2010 Miss Mothman Festival Princess title was won by Lindsey Deem. She is the 18-year old daughter of Dorinda Deem of Mason.
Runner’s up in the Miss division were Mercedes Trescott of Marietta, Ohio, first runner-up; Shay Worthington of Greenup, Ky., second runner-up; and Kayla Harold of Parkersburg, third runner-up. Miss Photogenic was awarded to Courtney Perry of Milton. Worthington also was optional awards for Best Dressed Street Wear and Best Dressed Evening Gown.
Other contestants in the Miss division were Lindsey Arrojo, Calyssa Mayes, Katie Hinkle, Melissa Stump, Alicia Spotloe, Christy Piggott, Kayla Harold and Christa Carr.
Destiney Jordan claimed the 2010 Teen Miss Mothman Festival Queen title. She is the 15-year old daughter of Sheila Jordan of Point Pleasant. She was crowned by Michaela Drummond, the 2009 Teen Miss Mothman Festival Queen.
Morgan Watterson was crowned the 2010 Teen Miss Mothman Festival Princess. She also won the Best Dressed Street Wear optional award. She is the 14-year old daughter of Rusty and Donna Watterson of Apple Grove.
First runner-up went to Maggie Bonar of Moundsville, second runner-up was Shelby Rodgers of Point Pleasant, and third runner-up was Deeanna Sayre of New Haven. Jesica Cornell of Apple Grove won Teen Miss Photogenic. Bonar also won the Best Dressed Evening Gown optional award, and Sayre won the Best On-Stage Interview optional award.
Other Teen Miss contestants Kyla Coburn, Cyrena Roach, Darian Miller, Kayla Pope and Tegan Morris.
In the Ms. division, Jennifer Viands, the 2009 Ms. Mothman Festival Queen crowned Marlee Sexton of Parkersburg the 2010 Ms. Mothman Festival Queen. Sexton is the 20-year old daughter of Craig Sexton and Beth Stanley. She also won Ms. Photogenic and Best Dressed Evening Gown.
First runner-up was awarded to Caitlin Moffett of Raymond, Ohio. And Mari Holliday of Point Pleasant won Ms. Congeniality and Best On-Stage Interview.
Other Ms. contestants were Lia Dean of Ripley.
Danielle Dowler of Parkersburg won the 2010 Mrs. Mothman Festival Queen title. She also was voted Mrs. Congeniality and won the Best Dressed Street Wear optional award. She was crowned by Kerrie McDermitt, the 2009 Mrs. Mothman Festival Queen.
Susan Hughart of Ripley received first runner-up, Mrs. Photogenic and Best Dressing Evening Gown. Second runner-up was Shyeanna Estep of New Martinsville, and third runner-up was Sarah Brown of Culloden. Zoa Little of Paden City won Best On-Stage Interview.
Other contestants in the Mrs. division were Elaine Legg and Maree Reynolds.
During the children’s pageant held Saturday morning, Jasmine Wright of Parkersburg, Sarah Deem of Point Pleasant, and Monika Barlar of Point Pleasant won the Tiny, Little and Junior Miss titles.
Wright, the 2010 Tiny Miss Mothman Festival Queen, is the three-year old daughter of Jessica Wright. Last year’s Tiny Miss Queen, Jasmine Webb, crowned Wright.
First runner-up in the Tiny Miss division was Hannah Pope of Gallipolis, Ohio. She also won Best Personality. Olivia Hicks of Point Pleasant was named as second runner-up, and Liberty Wroten of Point Pleasant received third runner-up. Optional award winners included Emma Sanders, Prettiest Eyes; Skyler Higginbotham, Prettiest Hair; Katie Estep, Prettiest Smile; and Addisyn Hanna, Best Dressed.
Other contestants in the Tiny Miss division were Peytin Rossiter, Aliyah Reynolds, Adyson Timms, Delaney Roberts and Kalista Berry.
Winning the title of 2010 Little Miss Mothman Festival Queen was Sarah Deem of Point Pleasant. She is the nine year old daughter of Deron and Missy Deem of Leon. The 2009 Little Miss Mothman Festival Queen, Arianna Nedeff, crowned Deem as her successor.
Runners-up in the Little Miss division were Gracie Queen of Point Pleasant, first runner-up; Sara Hughart of Ripley, second runner-up; and Kortlan Bush of Point Pleasant, third runner-up. Bush also won the Best Dressed optional award. Other optional award winners included Lakyn Campbell, Prettiest Eyes; Emmalee Estep, Prettiest Hair; Kenlee Bonecutter, Prettiest Smile; and Nina Holzaepfel, Best Personality.
Other Little Miss contestants were Jonaya Staley, Emma Tomlinson, Kadann Bonecutter, Emmie Waugh, Izabella King, and Adriana Sayre.
The 2010 Junior Miss Mothman Festival Queen is Monika Barlar of Point Pleasant. She is the 12-year old daughter of Lindsey and Tyler DeWeese of Point Pleasant. Barlar also is the reigning Junior Miss Point Pleasant TNT Queen, and is the first of the TNT Queens to capture a Mothman title. (The TNT pageant is a fundraiser pageant for Mothman). Barlar also won the Prettiest Hair optional award. She was crowned by the 2009 Junior Miss Mothman Festival Queen, Taylor Gillam.
Runners-up in the Junior Miss division were Brittany Weekley of Sistersville, first runner-up; Malana Hall of Marietta, Ohio, second runner-up; and Haleigh Bonecutter of Point Pleasant, third runner-up.
Optional award winners were Destiny Sayre, Prettiest Eyes; Marley Umensetter, Prettiest Smile; Weekley, Best Dressed; and Madison Oiler, Best Personality.
Other contestants in the Junior Miss division were Kyra Riffle, Taylor-Elise Moran, Elizabeth Rayburn, Maggie Waugh, Peyton Lovell, Kellsi Anderson, Bailey Harless, and Kiara Schwaben.
The 2010 royalty reigned over last weekend’s festival in downtown Point Pleasant.
