Elmer McFarland, 87, of Letart, went home to be with the Lord and his wife Leona, on Thursday evening, Aug. 12, 2010, at Darst Care Home in Pomeroy, Ohio.

He was a retired foreman with Busch Gardens, and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was also a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Stewart-Johnson Post # 9926. Elmer was born March 20, 1923, in Maggie, a son to the late Earnest D. and Ora Susan (Jones). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Leona (Yonker) McFarland; a son, Audie McFarland; and a brother, Quentin McFarland.

Elmer is survived by his daughters, Karen Edwards, of Webster Springs and Sharon Gardner, of Letart; two grandchildren, Tera Gardner and Owen McFarland; a great grandson, Brayden Audie Gardner; four brothers, Bill, Marvin, Harry and Ed McFarland; and three sisters, Catherine Stickler, Rosenna Bushell and Nora Lenick.

At Elmer’s request, there will be no visitation. Private graveside services will be conducted at Union Cemetery, in New Haven.
