POINT PLEASANT — A 62 year-old Point Pleasant, W.Va., man was flown to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va., after he was shot by a relative Wednesday night.

According to the Mason County Sheriff’s Department, a 16-year old female allegedly shot John Bartles at approximately 11 p.m. Wednesday. The shooting occurred at Bartles’ residence at 757 Grandview Ave. near the Mason County Fairgrounds.

Bartles was shot four times with a handgun by the girl, who is apparently related to him. He was transported to Pleasant Valley Hospital by Mason County EMS and was later taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center. Bartles was listed in fair condition.

The girl was arrested by members of the sheriff’s department and was later transported to Tiger Morton Juvenile Detention Center in Dunbar, where a hearing was conducted. According to a representative from Tiger Morton, the results of the hearing could not be released.
