He was born May 28, 1940, in Mason County, a son to the late Harmon and Jenevieve Casto.
He was a disabled pot room operator at Century Aluminum Plant in Ravenswood. Richie was a United States Army Veteran, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and a member of the United Steel Workers Union. He additionally was a member of the National Guard of Point Pleasant.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Casto in 2000.
He is survived by his son, Hermon and his wife, Valerie; daughter, Amanda Rose and Adam Pearson; grandchildren, Heather Harris and her husband, Aaron, Justin Casto, and Kendra Plants; one step-great grandson; one step-granddaughter; and one step-great grandson; three sisters, Sheila, Helen, and Hilda; and his children that he took in, Mary Rankin, Larry Whitt and Rick Werising, as well as several other children that he has helped over the years. His neighbors and friends will miss him for all of his laughter and kindness.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 24, at the Deal Funeral Home of Point Pleasant with Marshall Bonecutter officiating. Burial will follow in the Apple Grove Memorial Gardens with full army military graveside service being conducted by the American Legion Post #23 of Point Pleasant and the Army Veteran Association of Charleston. Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.
