Born November 12, 1930 in Gallipolis, she was the daughter of the late Frank Anderson Young and Mozetta Manns Young.
In addition to her parents she was preceded by a brother, John Judson Young and a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law, Wallace and Inez Smith.
Mary was a homemaker. She was a member of the Triedstone Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Smith whom she married on April 2, 1950 in Gallipolis; four children, Kenneth Edward (Angelique) Smith of The Plains, Ohio, Mozetta Michell (Lonnie) Hutchinson of Gallipolis, Margaret Hope Johnston of Bidwell, and Mark Kevin (Valry) Smith of Vineland, NJ; 10 Grandchildren, Terran Smith, Dominique (Jerry) Smith, Courtney (Amy) Hutchinson, Alex (Melissia) Hutchinson, Monique Hutchinson, Nicole Smith, Kimberly Smith, Kevin Smith, Antiawan (Amber) Smith, and Dion Johnston; 11 great grandchildren, Jordan Howell-Smith, Tyra Smith, Antiawan Smith II, Caleb Hutchinson, Joshua Hutchinson, Emily Hutchinson, Keshia Hutchinson, Madison Vance, McKayla Vance, Marcus Vance, and Ana Marie Smith; a brother, Frank Anderson (Hazel) Young III of Dayton, two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kenton (Louise) Smith of Columbus and William Edwin (Esther) Smith of Haydenville. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Friday May 28, 2010 at the Triedstone Baptist Church with the Pastor Melvin Freeman officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pine Street Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Terran Smith, Courtney Hutchinson, Alex Hutchinson, Antiawan Smith, Jerry Smith, Herman Mayo, Kevin Smith, and Lonnie Hutchinson. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dion Johnston and Jordan Howell-Smith.
