POINT PLEASANT — Viand St. will add a restaurant next week as Pancho’s Mexican Cantina is set to move to a new location.

The restaurant will open on Wednesday, March 24 in the building that once housed Bennigans and Halftime Sports Bar and Grill. Pancho’s has been preparing to move to the new location since January.

According to Todd Bowen, owner of Pancho’s, a lot of work and repairs have been done to the new building in order to get the restaurant ready for opening day. He said that he looked forward to operating in the new building because the location will provide the restaurant with more visibility as well as better parking.

Bowen emphasized that Pancho’s will continue to operate as an upscale Mexican restaurant regardless of the location change. In January when news broke of Pancho’s moving, Bowen said that he was very happy to move to the new building as well as to do business in Point Pleasant.

Bowen also owns a pizza place and another Pancho’s location in Ravenswood.

Members of the Mason County Area Chamber of Commerce will be the first to dine at the new Pancho’s. The chamber’s March luncheon is slated for noon Tuesday, March 23 at the restaurant. According to Hilda Austin, chamber executive director, the restaurant will be staffed and open to the chamber. Members who wish to the attend the luncheon must RSVP by contacting Austin at 304-675-1050.
