POINT PLEASANT — Norfolk Southern inspectors have given the 7th Street railroad bridge in Point Pleasant a passing grade.
Point Pleasant Mayor Brian Billings contacted Norfolk Southern after receiving complaints from local residents and met with railroad officials on Friday, Jan. 29. Gene Campbell of Norfolk Southern advised that the railroad bridge was in sound condition and is inspected on an annual basis by crews that come to Point Pleasant once a month.
Billings, along with Police Chief Ernie Watterson and other officials, walked the bridge from the NAPA parking lot to the floodwall. Campbell advised that the bridge overall is one of the better railroad bridges in the state. Campbell and another Norfolk Southern official continued to do a walk through of the structure.
