POINT PLEASANT — A new soup kitchen will open Monday, Feb. 15 in Mason County.

According to Barbara Brumfield, organizer of the soup kitchen, this will hopefully become a regular outreach program for those in the area.

The soup kitchen will be open from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Main Street Baptist Church. The free dinner is open to anyone.

The menu will include soup, sandwiches, a dessert and drink.

Members of the Main Street Baptist Church congregation will prepare the meals and contemporary Christian music will provide a spiritual background appeal.

Dennis Brumfield, financial trustee and deacon at the church, said that there are a few rules to follow. He said people must be appropriately dressed and exhibit appropriate behavior in the church fellowship hall.

“This is our way to reach out to our community,” Brumfield said. “You can wrap a lot of love around food.”

For more information about the soup kitchen, contact the church at 304-675-4061.
