BUFFALO — A good defensive effort in the second half allowed the Wahama Lady Falcons to complete the season sweep of the Buffalo Lady Bison on Thursday evening.

Wahama and Buffalo both saw high scoring first halves, but the Lady Falcons stepped it up defensively in the second half as they held the hosts to only 13 points in the final two quarters.

Wahama led 22-18 after the first quarter at Buffalo, but Buffalo answered in the second quarter as they outscored the Lady Falcons 23-13. Buffalo took a 41-35 lead at the half, with Hannah Boyer scoring 20 of the Lady Bison’s first half points.

After the half, Wahama applied a great deal of defensive pressure, holding Boyer to only two second half points, and Buffalo was held to a total of 13 points in the half. Wahama outscored Buffalo 30-13 in the half to win by a final score of 65-54.

Wahama was led by Taylor Hysell with 21 points. Karista Ferguson had 16 points, Alex Wood scored 15 points, Kelsey Zuspan added six points, Deidra Peters had five points, and Mackenzie Gabritsch added two points.

Buffalo was led by Boyer with 22 points. Tiffani Bailey added 14 points, Hannah Lloyd scored eight points, Kierra Bays had four points, and Danielle Gallagher, Danielle Hershey, and Katie Adkins each had two points.

Wahama hosts Calhoun County tonight at 6 p.m., before the varsity boys contest against Hannan.
