POINT PLEASANT — The Mason County Community Foundation (MCCF) is seeking support for its scholarship fund during this holiday season.

The Mason County Scholarship Fund was created to provide college scholarships for local graduating seniors. Individuals, businesses, and organizations can donate gifts to this fund in honor or as a memorial to special people and each year the annual scholarship award will be made in the honorees’ names.

Gifts can also be made to the Mason County Support Fund. This fund provides annual grant support for community projects and programs in health, human services, arts, education, and recreation.

“This holiday season, instead of giving another tie or bottle of perfume; consider making a gift to the community in honor of the people on your list,” said Jane Winters, MCCF manager. “What a wonderful gift to give someone special this Christmas — a way to be forever remembered and honored for supporting the community they love. Making a donation in someone’s name allows the community foundation to honor these special person each year, gives the donor a tax deduction for the gift, and provides needed resources for community programs, projects and our students’ education.”

The community foundation is working to add $13,000 to its scholarship fund and $10,000 to its Community Support Fund this holiday season. The generosity of Mason County citizens will help the community foundation develop a new general purpose scholarship fund to help local students and increased grant resources to address critical community needs.

MCCF is an affiliate of the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation (PACF), which was established in 1963, and in all, serves 10 counties in West Virginia and one county in Ohio. The Mason County Community Foundation was established as an affiliate of PACF in 2000 by area citizens to build permanent funds that will support local charitable causes in the county forever.

Any donation to the Mason County Scholarship Fund, the Mason County Support Fund or any MCCF fund is tax deductible. Donations can be sent to MCCF, P.O. Box 66, Point Pleasant, WV 25550 and can be made on line on the community foundation’s Web site at www.pacfwv.com by clicking on the “Network for Good” icon and using your credit card.
