POINT PLEASANT — Point Pleasant Junior Senior High School is planning for its annual Community Christmas Dinner.

This event is planned by the Local School Improvement Council (LSIC) which is hosting the dinner with support from Ohio Valley Bank, the school’s business partner.

William Cottrill, principal of PPJSHS, invites everyone in the community to attend.

“The dinner continues to grow each year,” Cottrill said. “This is our way to give back to a community that has been so gracious and supportive of the high school.”

This is the eighth year for the dinner and the second year it is being held at the high school. Not only is this a great way for area residents and all members of the community to be involved in the school’s events, it is a festive way to spend an evening with students, faculty and staff of PPJSHS.

The Christmas dinner was started by a former high school principal, Rick Northup, who wanted to give back to the community. It was originally planned as a Christmas meal for senior citizens who may not have a place to eat or who are lonesome during the holiday.

But after eight years, it is clear that the entire community is involved in some way or another.

Class officers and members of the Student Council will be assisting in serving during the event. The school’s faculty and staff also will be helping. The cooks will be preparing the meal which will include ham, turkey, and all of the fixings.

The dinner will last from 5 to 7 p.m., Dec. 14 in the Commons Area at the high school. In addition, entertainment will be provided by the PPJSHS Choir.

For more information, contact the high school at 304-675-1350.
