POINT PLEASANT — Christmas will come a little early at Pleasant Valley Hospital this year.

PVH will host its annual Evening With Santa on Thursday, Dec. 17 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event will take place in the hospital’s main lobby.

Evening With Santa is sponsored by the PVH community relations department, PVH Auxiliary and the PVH medical staff. The event is one of the many community outreach programs that the hospital hosts, and the public is invited to attend.

Aside from Saint Nick, Mrs. Claus and Santa’s helpers will be present. During the Evening With Santa, children will be able to deliver their Christmas lists to Santa. In addition, digital pictures of children with Santa and Mrs. Claus will be provided free of charge while supplies last. Light refreshments also will be provided.

There are several other local holiday activities to take part in as well, including the West Virginia State Farm Museum’s Christmas Light Show, which begins today. The light show will be open nightly from 6 to 9 p.m. through Dec. 21. Aside from the Christmas displays, Santa Claus will make an appearance each night and the Country Kitchen will be open to provide visitors with free donuts, coffee, cookies and hot cider. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.

The Christmas Fantasy Light Show at Point Pleasant’s Krodel Park is open from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. each night through Dec. 31. The light show features a wide variety of light displays including a sternwheeler boat, American Flag, Santa Claus and the area’s own legendary Mothman creature. There is no admission. Donations are appreciated.
