POINT PLEASANT — Mason County is gearing up for the most wonderful time of the year and the West Virginia State Farm Museum will once again be a focal point of the festivities.
“Christmas is such a wonderful and fun time of the year and we at the farm museum enjoy adding to the holiday spirit,” said Lloyd Akers, executive director of the farm museum.
Last year, 8,000 cars drove through the brightly decorated grounds.
Volunteers and employees have worked for several months to be sure that all aspects of the museum are covered with Christmas lights and decorations. The Lakin Correctional Facility also has played a major role is being sure the farm museum is ready for the light show.
“Lakin has really helped us out this year and we are thankful for their support and the support of the community,” Akers said.
Just like last year, the kitchen will be open to visitors and will provide free donuts, coffee, cookies and hot cider. Santa Claus also will make an appearance.
Akers said that even more lights have been added to the show this year.
“We have had a good response in the past and we look forward to another successful turnout,” Akers said. “We really enjoy holding this event for the community.”
The Christmas Light Show will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. daily, Dec. 11-21. Admission is free. Donations are accepted. For information, contact 304-675-5737.
The West Virginia State Farm Museum is located off W.Va. 62 on Fairgrounds Road.
