POINT PLEASANT — Mason County queens are getting into the holiday spirit.
Summer Searls, the 2009 Point Pleasant Sternwheel Regatta Queen, is currently planning a “Caroling Queens” event. According to Searls, any Mason County title-holder or queen is welcome to participate in the event.
“Caroling Queens” will take place at 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 17 at the Twin Rivers Tower Apartments in Point Pleasant. The caroling queen event was originally started by Candace Bonecutter, the 2007 Regatta Queen. Searls described “Caroling Queens” as an effort to spread Christmas cheer.
“We will be singing the classic Christmas carols and song sheets will be provided,” she said. “It is sure to be a fun evening that will get everyone in the Christmas spirit.”
Anyone who wishes to participate in Caroling Queens should contact Searls as soon as possible at 304-675-1416.
Aside from the Caroling Queens event, Mason County queens have been active in the community as they recently participated in the WBYG Big Country 99 Turkey Bowl, which raised money for a local food pantry. In addition, several queens visited local elementary schools on Read to Me Day as well as participated in local events, such as the Community Thanksgiving Dinner and Holiday Parade.
The Caroling Queens event is one of the many activities that Searls has organized during her reign as Regatta Queen. She recently hosted a Queen’s Brunch for area girls, which featured the Disney Princesses. In addition, Searls organized a backpack drive for all Mason County students.
